POST
COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
Fellow
Legion Family Members,
I want to thank, Bob Ouellette Jr, Mary Ann Van
Patten, and John McDaniel for coming to help at Rolling Thunder.
Their assistance made it a pleasurable experience this year.
I am stepping down as County Commander as of July
12th. It has been fun. But now rest for the weary. I will be
sworn in as 2nd Vice Commander for Southern Maryland District on
July 13th. I will reprise my role as Post Commander, so you can
rest easy.
Please help me out by renewing your membership
for 2010 early! I now have 2010 membership cards. There are many
reason to renew your membership, from assisting wounded
warriors, providing programs for Children & Youth to
comradeship.
NOW you can even save on your utility bills if
you are living in DE, DC & MD. In VA you can save on your
Natural Gas bill only. Contact me via
email with any questions. The Post receives a donation from
the Coop for every hour of service. So you can save money and
know you will make a difference too.
Please promote our raffle of the Armed Forces Tribute Bike,
which is a 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King FLH and a former
Montgomery County Police Bike for our next raffle. Iron Works Cycles
has customized it. The 2nd & 3rd Prizes are 52" Sharp
Aquos LCD HDTVs from Sears Gaithersburg. Go to the Tribute Bike page for more
info and to order tickets online.
We are
continuing to provide support to our wounded warriors, although it
will not be as much as we would like to. Our program Operation
Provide Comfort has been a success. We have provided more than
$10,000 in support to our Wounded Warriors at Bethesda Naval
Hospital and Walter Reed.
I am
pleased to welcome into the Legion Family 2 members of Patriot Racing! Steve Levow a
former Marine and John Porter an Army Veteran. Find out more about
them and their work with the Fisher House on the Legion Riders Page.
Sign up 5 new members
and your dues will be paid by the post. Active Duty members wishing
to join the American Legion, must complete and application and
provide proof of Active Duty.
We do not
have a Post home. There are several hurdles to overcome before we
take that step. As a non-profit we accept donations to work
toward a Post home. For the Veterans!
For the
Veteran!
